If it isn't about babysitting or starring Steve Martin, chances are very high that I haven't seen whatever movie you're talking about. I've been alive since 1981 and apparently have missed out on a lot of good stuff. I've spent a lot of hours doing things other than watching.
In 2013 I'm going to attempt to change that by watching a movie a week.*
With no idea of where to even begin, I'll need a list of movies. I guess maybe I will try to watch some with the friend who makes the recommendation, or at least write back and forth with the suggester a little to learn why they want me to watch a film. If you're suggesting it please tell me why you think it's important that I see it, what makes it your pick, or something. I love reasons.
I might write a summary about what I think it's about beforehand, which usually proves to be kind of amusing. Then I'll watch it, try not to talk through the whole thing, and write something. It won't be a synopsis- you've probably already seen it. Maybe I'll write what I now understand that I hadn't before. Maybe I'll hear the name of a character that I've heard for years and nodded my head like I understood what people were saying, but now I'll actually get the reference.
By this time next year I will maybe have a different understanding of something, or will have grown in some way, or will have logged lots of hours in front of a glowing screen. Maybe my conversation skills will get better. Maybe I will understand some jokes. Maybe I will get real boring because I will only talk about this. (Apologies in advance if that happens.)
So I guess start suggesting, okay?
*It was going to be 52 but let's not get too crazy.
